How do you cure wanderlust? A good recipe is a nice rosé. Ice-cooled, such a glass always beams me quickly to the place of production, a sunny terrace, a cozy beach or a cool pool. Summer vibes, which are also fun in winter. Well, I think: Rosé wines always work. That’s why I used my trip to the Vinum Hotel Mein Matillhof (you can find the report on my stay here) to pack some nice rosé wines in my trunk and take some pictures in the hotel.
The hotel is just really wine-inviting! Vinum Hotels also stands for the fact that the hosts live and love wine, that as a guest you can always ask a sommelier on site, that there is a great wine cellar at the start or that special wine experiences are offered around South Tyrolean wine. In any case, I get a wanderlust for South Tyrol when I look at it, and I hope that you will find some wine-related inspiration here and there.
Rosé wines for summer flair in every season
How about bathing in wine?
ROSAMATI ROSATO, FATTORIA LE PUPILLE
Eyecatcher: the Rosamati Rosato looks and tastes like a sunny day in italy.
South Tyrol? You’ll have to take some Italian wines with you, I thought – and I filled the trunk with some nice bottles to go to the Vinum Hotels I’ve visited to get a new wine shopping list right away – here on the terrace of the SPA Suite in the Matillhof. The funny one here comes from fattoria Le Pupille. From the Maremma winery I’ve already tried white wines, red wine and even rosé, and I was blown away every time. The Fattoria le Pupille estate currently has 420 hectares of cereal fields, olive groves, cork oak woods, pastures and 80 hectares of the most beautiful vineyards – and it’s being used pretty smartly. Founder Elisabetta Geppetti, together with her children Clara and Ettore, grows cool catchy wine beats that are elegant but at the same time approachably casual. In short: relaxed Tuscany vacation glass for glass – this also applies to rosé wines. The Rosamati Rosato from Syrah grapes has a dry humor, ties up fruity berries and gets to the point quickly. Unfortunately, it is also so quickly empty – but with its uncomplicated berry-ice charm it makes you want to take a bath in the glass at least once again. Lagrein Kretzer, Weingut Unterganzner
Never heard of it. Until now, because that’s why I’m going to a Vinum Hotel, so that I can learn a few more things. In the past, so-called „Kretzen“, woven baskets, were used to make rosé wine from Lagrein grapes. They separated the skins from the must and guaranteed the characteristic rosé by the short contact of berries and skins. Nice. And character has this fruit salad, which was recommended to me by the sommelier of Mein Matillhof for the walk to the pool, but a lot in the basket. By the way, you can also just make it: That’s why Matillhof is a member of Vinum Hotels, which means that the hosts breathe wine love and are happy to pass on their knowledge and that no guest question about fruit salad is too stupid. So: marry! The Lagrein red wines typical from South Tyrol are always to be recommended, especially in the colder season. The rosé wine made from the variety transports me – and hopefully you – immediately back to this pool. Strawberries and raspberries in a glass, sounds sweet at first, but becomes really crunchy, spicy and seductive. But I love rosé wines. Kloster Eberbach Rosé
One should describe wines less, but simply enjoy, I would like to prescribe you the thing of the Eberbach in Eltville in the Rheingau nevertheless. 252 hectares of the most valuable vineyard property form the foundation of the more than 900-year-old heritage of the Cistercians of Kloster Eberbach. On the stretch of more than 100km from the Hessian Bergstrasse to Assmannshausen lies the soil for the richness of the wines. The world class Rieslings I still present to you, now it is about a Kloster Eberbach fruit salad for rosy summer vibes. All those who like to nibble on strawberry and raspberry ice cream without it getting too sweet or kitschy should try the Kloster Eberbach Rosé for a date under 10 Euros. The fruit salad has a dry sense of humor and would have stood in its Tinder-Bio: I’m uncomplicated, look shy but I’m really horny and with a one-wine stand it won’t stay that way. Cheers! Rosé Edition das Weinheim
How about pouring in a bath tub of this tasty rosé wine? I would!
This charming rosé wine here is something like a liquid lifeline, because it always makes you happy, and is one of the three house wines in my favorite wine bar, Das Weinheim in Munich. The fruit salads (including red and white) were created in cooperation with the winegrower Johannes B, cost 12 Euros and all have the same character. They don’t want to tell you any stories, but rather make your belly button tingle in an uncomplicated way. Quasi like a date, where after the first look-drink-contact tingling starts. A rosé, where you would be on the waffle if you didn’t try it. The „Das Weinheim Edition Rosé“, which was created together with the winemaker Johannes B, is simply evil. Evil good. Ice-cooled, liquid, cuddly strawberry-raspberry ice cream with a world-off flair. Just as rosé wines should be. And that for just under 10 euros a bottle. Das Weinheim Rosé, more via dasweinheim.de/
Albrecht Schwegler Rosé
The Schwegler family winery is located in Korb, on the outskirts of Stuttgart, the capital of Baden-Württemberg. The wines that Aaron Schwegler, who has now taken over the scepter, brings to the bottle are some of my favorite wines Made in Germany. No matter whether red or white cuvée, the fruit salads are always classy, elegant, have character without wanting to play to the fore. And then there’s the Rosé, the summer party hit in a basket, which nobody should ever turn down. Produced and mixed from Trollinger, Pinot Noir and Syrah, the cuvée was matured for a small part in wooden barrels. The fun maker tastes clean and fine in the nose after raspberries, strawberries, currants, cranberries, cherries, white pepper, nutmeg, balm and roses. Sounds sexy already? It is. And the taste? It reminds me of really fine, creamy ice cream, which melts beautifully with a light carbonic acid, like a mountain stream that always brings a new wave of berries, in short: fresh and juicy. If you don’t dive into it, you’re missing something. Albrecht Schwegler Rosé, Price: 10 Euro, via www.genuss7.de
LOVE & HOPE ROSÉ „BALLOON GIRL“ X BANKSY, WEINGUT ST. ANTONY, RHEINHESSEN
Not business as usual. This rosé wine is extraordinairy.
A wine that puts all your worries in your pocket? A wine with an absolute love of labels? Here you go. If I wanted to have that summer feeling again or the feeling of sea and sun, I would go for this Rosé Made in Germany. But it’s going to be hard in the future, the thing has become a real collector’s item. All grapes of the Pinot Noir and Blaufränkisch Bio Cuvée come from the Rote Hang in the Rheinhessen wine growing region. And how does the charming message in a bottle taste? Like kissing cherry ice cream. pure berry-cream-water ice cream that is addictive. And sometimes just plain delicious. Honestly: This is a wine where you switch off the world around you for one bottle. A wine that brings a smile to even the strongest Resting Bitch Face. And puts you in a good mood. You could really use those days. More via Love & Hope Rosé BANKSY, www.st-antony.de/shop
