Lum d’or Spa Chalet (Gröden, South Tyrol)
Who says that the accommodation must always look like a castle, if it is like from a fairy tale? Or you want to feel like a fairy tale there? I’m sure Cinderella, Sissi and Co. would also immediately check into this wooden location deluxe, which has freshly sailed onto my bucket list. Maybe you know the feeling when something immediately matches your style: the pants fit like a glove the first time you try them on, the wine is cut just the way you like the aromas – flirtation at first sight. That’s what happened to me when I came across the Lum d’or Spa Chalet. The exclusive hideaway in the Dolomites immediately confirms one of my other talents – falling in love with wine or accommodations that are actually outside my budget – but the blog is also a little bit for dreaming, so let’s dream carefree. Especially if the location is in South Tyrol.

The unique chalet is located in the renowned ski resort and hiking paradise Selva Gardena. The simple, but just derbe tasty recipe: private retreat meets luxurious spa and outdoor pool with dream views. Alone at the – of course heated – pool it was already done around me. Just the idea of having a date here with barbecue and regional wines – insane. Lum d’Or, the name stands for Golden Light, lives up to its name. Because the light figure among the chalets relies on a clear tactic: to make the stay pure gold. Those who check in are supposed to be blissfully happy. In other words, if the cozy architecture and the hotel’s own private spa with sauna and whirlpool are not enough, you can book additional services.
For example, the partner restaurant delivers culinary indulgence to order. Fancy some wine? Simply order in the morning from our own wine list with renowned South Tyrolean and international wines, then the selection is delivered perfectly tempered to the chalet until evening. Shopping or clear tables in the best restaurants? Of course also easy.
Lum d’Or Spa Chalet can then accommodate up to 8 people. The minimum stay starts from three nights, at peak times a week. But that would not be a problem for me, I think I could stay there for quite a long time. Only the budget must play along.

Leni Chalet (Sölden)
A new addition to my bucket list is this retreat above the center of Sölden, which is sure to please at any time of year. The exclusive LENI MOUNTAIN Chalet is part of Leni Mountain. A perfect retreat away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The ensemble of seven spacious apartments, café and wellness area is located in the middle of the slope and thus allows guests to enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, wellness and much more directly from the front door. Nice, isn’t it? But my bucket list highlight is the Leni Mountain Chalet.

The retreat on the Leiterberg was once called “Edelweißhütte” and was generally renovated in summer 2019 and expanded into a “Private Hideaway” for up to 8 people. Distributed over 4 bedrooms a fair deal. Only natural materials such as wood and stone from the region were used, which reflect the very special character of the surrounding nature. Wood in the hut, wood in front of the hut, and in the natural bathing pond I have of course immediately fallen in love. Far away from the hustle and bustle to go swimming with the view, how cool must that be. And how does it look with so much infatuation with inner values? There is a fireplace plus wine fridge – so the chalet adventure playground has just for the colder season everything at the start, what is missing to the cozy time out. I’m off to dream of vino by the mountain pool again.

Chalet Eichenstein (Meran)
Is that? No wait, hm, but, yes, zoom in for a second: This is really a pool in the middle of the vineyards. Second thought: Can you live there or is it private? The good news: In this great wine vacation location you can actually check in. Stumbling over the Chalet Eichenstein also made me write this article. A design property for the vacations, wine (click: all wine shopping lists at a glance) on the doorstep and with distance cool bathing: Can you get cooler? A little bit yes. The chalet is part of the Eichenstein Winery, so as a guest you are right in the middle of it all and can flirt with the good mood bottles at close range.
But it is also obvious. Because the Chalet is part of the portfolio of the Romantik Hotel Oberwirt, a member of the 29 South Tyrolean VINUM HOTELS. On the one hand, the vino in the name stands for the guarantee of living in the middle of a famous wine-growing area, but even more so for the fact that all hosts, like the Waldner family who run the hotel, have an extremely positive flair for wine. Some of them are winegrowers themselves, so you have the best match to get to know the local wines and culture better.
The team around winery owner Josef Waldner and oenologist Martin Pollinger cultivates Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Vernatsch on the slopes there. If I ever make it there, the first plan would be clear: wine tasting at the pool. But back to the chalet vacation.
Material mix and lighting mood harmonize. The only question is: Where do you relax first in your chalet holiday?
Earth tones, wood, cozy leather, and a fancy fireplace, kitchen and lots of glasses to make wine feel at home: direct chalet love.
The separate Romantik Chalet Eichenstein is located about 20 minutes by car from the Hotel Oberwirt, on Freiberg near Merano and extends over 3 floors: on the first floor there is the luxurious living room with fireplace, open plan kitchen and large panoramic terrace with access to the – naturally – heated infinity pool and sunbathing lawn as well as a fitness room. The motto: enter, feel good, everything there, but without diva attitude, full pampering, without aloofness. For the conscience after a good fruit salad pleasure. On the upper floor you will find the living-bedroom with freestanding bathtub and shower/WC, walk-in closet and sunny balcony. In the basement there is a private wellness area with Finnish sauna, infrared sauna, showers and waterbeds. Now you may slowly close your mouth again.
Nice detail: For the first breakfast in the wine paradise, the hosts equip the refrigerator once with breakfast products such as rolls, milk, butter, jam, sausage and cheese. Afterwards you have to cook for yourself – as is customary in vacation homes. But the wine-growing estate chalet still has a great detail in store. On request you can give your companion a culinary gift and book a candlelight dinner with aperitif and wine accompaniment (of course oak stone fruit salads) at the Romantik Hotel Oberwirt, including shuttle service. Winzerhaus Tunauberg (South Styria)
I already introduced another vacation home of Pures Leben in the article about vacation homes you don’t want to move out of. Designed by the winegrower Dietmar Silly himself, each of the eleven vacation homes is a jewel in its own right, completely different from the others in architecture, design and location. Situated in the middle of southern Styria, the individually designed domiciles invite you to spend a relaxing vacation surrounded by vineyards and offer numerous photo motifs to fall in love with. For the chalet vacation with twist I found the winegrower’s house Tunauberg exciting this time.
Cozy couch, great view, the fireplace for all cases within reach: this is how chalet holiday has to be!
So if the view does not knock off the sofa …
The three-storey interior design with two bedrooms and two separate bathrooms offers ample space for couples and families. A fully equipped kitchen and an open fireplace are of course at the start. Products are available on request, but in this ambience (and with a glass or two of wine) even the most untalented chef should be able to conjure up something delicious. And if not, everything tastes a bit better with the view anyway.
From the fantastic pool you can enjoy the view of vineyards and orchards. The next winery and a wine tavern are only a few minutes away, and of course you can experience and taste the house’s own wines on advance booking. So go out for a walk, taste, buy wine and then relax by the pool with your chosen fruit salad. A large garden, a furnished larch terrace and a hammock await the guests.

Golden Hill Chalet Goldfuchs (South Styria)
Granted: For an overnight stay in this chalet you might have to ask your grandma for a small pocket money donation, but the location is just too cool not to introduce her briefly. The Golden Hill Country Chalets & Suites in the middle of the vineyards of Southern Styria are aimed at people looking for time out with a sense of peace, bathing fun and wine pampering.
Relaxation under the roof: in Chalet Steinfuchs you can bathe in water and style at the same time.
Get to the water! This one has probably the best chances to find your favorite spot.
25 km south of Graz hide four exclusive chalets in country style like here the Chalet Steinfuchs, each with its own private spa, sauna cube and outdoor wellness bathtub and free-standing copper bathtub, fireplace is also at the start. Guests have access to the 600 m2 natural swimming pond and the 4,000 m2 park.

Okay, okay, okay: Strictly speaking, this vacation home is a bit difficult to declare as a chalet, but it meets all the criteria. The Logis Logis 19|5 is located inBaden-Württemberg, in the middle of the quiet and historical center of the winegrowing community Kirchen. Direct contact to the wine is therefore safe.
Built in 2016, the property offers three light-flooded rooms for feeling good, relaxing or working. The guest house is located within a listed 16th century manor house, surrounded by an old wall of quarry stone. It was designed by a local architect who has skilfully combined old and new to form a successful ensemble. The furnishings: high quality and design oriented. Airy, clean, well thought-out ambience – so you can also make a mark with design.

Take a seat and get to the wine tasting: In this vacation location, this is done in a down-to-earth, down-to-earth manner in a feel-good atmosphere.
Let’s get to the sunny outdoor area: there you can hold private wine tastings in a relaxed atmosphere. Good sources are just around the corner: The winery Ziereisen with some award-winning red and white wines is located here, as well as the eco-winery Kaufmann and the Markgräfler Winzergenossenschaft. Yes and the pool? It is undoubtedly one of the highlights – and after prior consultation with the host family, it can also be used. So nothing stands in the way of a wine experience in a cool ambience.
