Actually one makes vacation because of the relaxation. And my plan for the trip to Greece was to keep the smartphone as cold and ignored as possible. I took some pictures at Ikos Aria, so that I can show you why the Hotel ganz safe deserves a place on your travel list. During the travel-free time I get wanderlust again, but I firmly believe that we will be allowed to get on a plane again sometime in the year. Until then, let’s stay inspired – and this is what a short stay could look like.
Short note: The stay at Ikos Aria was not an invitation, I paid everything myself, including the flight. Nevertheless I was so enthusiastic that I would like to enthuse you for the hotel as well.
17 p.m: Check-in
You will only notice the hotel as soon as you drive through the gate, so nothing with a big concrete bunker. When you enter the big white entrance hall, you could also walk through a James Bond location in the Bahamas. And you keep walking until you come to a stop on the terrace (one of two) – with the first view of the sea, the pools and the area of Ikos Aria. Without knowing it, you have just gotten an overview of the place where you will start the evening – the spacious lobby bar.
Chillout on the terrace of the Lobby Bar. Small paddling pool is at the start, dignified armchairs. And the view is also royal.
Open, cozy, elegant, garden on top
More than 370 spacious suites and super-equipped rooms with a choice of private balconies, gardens and some with their own pools are on offer in the over 20-hectare complex, which never looks this big. I have checked into a Deluxe Junior Suite with a private small garden. There is enough room for two people, the bathroom also accommodates larger make-up bags. But the design of the interior is the same in all accommodations. Lots of white, wood, open design and Mediterranean-inspired shapes in carpets, mirrors or decorative elements create a feel-good ambience. And since you are mostly on the road or at the beach/pool anyway, it is not so important that the low hedges do not offer the greatest privacy when you are outside.
The stay in Ikos hotels is on paper an all inclusive vacation. But there is much more behind the term Infinite Lifestyle.
Ikos Aria Kos: What’s the Infinite Lifestyle?
The all-inclusive concept in all Ikos hotels is designed so that you don’t have to worry about anything anymore – you can plan with your existing budget, if you want to book massage treatments or similar without extra charge, nothing more will be added. The overnight price (per room, not per person) includes all meals in the restaurants. Most of the times we even talk about a la carte food – you can order starter, main course, dessert and ouzo as you like. And it gets even better: The Ikos wine cellar is open to you – you can choose your favorite from about 300 different wines. By glass or, you hear right: bottle. Everything in it. So you can relax and feel your way through Greek, French or German wines! In addition, there is the possibility of the Dine Out Service: After reservation you can get to know the local Greek cuisine in selected restaurants in the area without extra charge. And if available you can go there with the hotel’s own mini bus. The daily filled up mini bar is also included.
On the beach the excellent service offer continues: all-day service up to the beach couch (yes – just order beer and a short time later drink in the pool or sea is included) and sports activities such as paddling, canoeing, windsurfing, a trial lesson in diving as well as the evening program with theater performance and musicals, live stage program in the Ikos Theater, live music, cinema, children’s entertainment and motto parties like the White Night (free drinks on the beach) are part of the Infinite Lifestyle.
Ikoas Aria or: Whatshould i taste first?
Above: The view from the lobby bar terrace to the Ikos area. Here you can see the middle of the four pools. My favourite pool you can see below. The small pool is reserved for adults and therefore more quiet. On top you are of course just a few steps away from the beach. But one after the other.
19 p.m: Dinner
At dinner you have the choice. Seven restaurants are waiting for your tasting, the taste map ranges from the Mediterranean to the Orient. The main restaurant „Flavors“ is a Mediterranean buffet restaurant. In the small „Kos“ you can enjoy typical cuisine with sea view, in the „Provence“ you can try French dishes. The „Seasons“ has a menu with sustainable products from local markets“, the „Fresco“ cooks Italian, the „Oliva“ Spanish and the „Anaya“ Asian. In the Ouzo, which you can see in the picture above, Greek a la carte is served in an open atmosphere.
21.30 p.m: Drink @ Lobby Bar
The spacious lobby bar is a relaxed place to go for a little people-watching and to think about what dishes you want to eat the next day with one or two or three drinks. In addition, each bar or restaurant has a slightly different list of drinks, so that boredom never really comes up. During rush hours it can take a while to find a seat, but it always works out.
On safari in Greece. In Ikos Aria on Kos there is really an infinite amount to discover. For a week you can drink and taste every evening in a different location.
You can hang out here without worrying about anything. Ok, hairstyle has to fit.
9 a.m: Breakfast
You can also have breakfast in the different restaurants. I was here in Ouzo. They always offer a varied buffet as well as a la carte dishes like scrambled eggs or Egg Benedict.
10.30 a.m: Bathing pleasure
At Ikos Aria you will find several family pools, and there is also a separate large children’s area. My favorite spot was very quickly the Kefalos beach with a view of the charming island, followed by the second half in the Ü10 pool of the deluxe area. The sand is pleasant, despite the small pebbles you can easily get into the water – and at the pool you have the opportunity to swim, quick access to the toilet and just in case, wifi. Not to mention the nice view.
13 p.m: Lunch
Italian, rather view or with beach proximity, what should it be for lunch? How about a rosé date at Ouzo?
I can highly recommend „The Duck“. In this ambience everything tastes twice as good anyway. And what is cooler than ice-cold wine with a sea view? That’s true. Two ice-cold wines with a sea view.
Baked apple and rosé? Sounds unusual, in this case the dessert was pure indulgence.
19.30 p.m: Dinner
In the picture you can see the „Fresco“, which is specialized in Italian cuisine. Under a veranda roof you dine here with a view of one of the large main pools and, of course, the Aegean Sea. We also recommend the „Flavors“ for theme nights like in our case the „Moroccan Night“ – long time not so horny oriental food like in Ikos. In addition, there is a large counter for starters, salads and desserts as well as a separate bread area.
The stairway from the pool area and the lobby bar is a really cool location. The green wall of leaves can also be viewed at length – you have to pass it on the way to the toilet.
Short break between drink 3 and 4.
9.30 a.m: Breakfast
The first culinary treat already in the morning in the sun. Can be endured.
10 a.m: Lavish time
Actually one has the freedom to do nothing while on vacation. Chill out at the pool and get a tan. I did that too. But if you’re itching or too much activity in the wine, you can also do water sports, explore the area or rent one of the minis.
19.30 p.m: Dinner
In the article example this would be the last evening, and safe the Ikos is relaxing even on a short trip, but I recommend to book at least 5 nights if it is in your budget. Then you will have enough peace and quiet to try out the area, the different restaurants, but also the activities and if necessary find a regular restaurant that you will visit more often – like we did at Ouzo and Kos.
21 p.m: Drink & Drinks
Farewell drinks are a must. You’ll find enough bar choices. And besides, Ikos Aria has a small but nice (night) club with a very cozy ambience – for a very serious farewell, of course.
10 a.m: Breakfast & check out
Relaxed place: the loungers on the lobby bar terrace. And now unfortunately: Goodbye.
What you need to know
- The garden areas and also the living rooms can be easily seen from the rooms and suites directly at the pool and beach, because the hedges are kept quite low. So maybe don’t walk around too exhibitionistic. Just as a tip.
- The hotel raises a small group of cats. Don’t be surprised if one or the other kitty runs into you or wants to nibble from dinner.
- he adult pool can be used by all guests, but there is another pool exclusively reserved for the customers of the deluxe package. Of course you can still have a look at it.
- The airport in Kos is cute, but it gets really cuddly full when the rush is really big in the high season. Be sure to plan some time here.
- Alcoholic drinks are included like the 300 wines. Deluxe guests can also choose from an extended selection of spirits. In general: At the fair price you shouldn’t expect the most exclusive whiskies, rums, gins or wines, but the wines in particular are all from the 5 to 10 Euro range and really strong and selected with good hands.
What i love
- the unagitated spaciousness. Large area, already some rooms, but it is never crowded and you never feel like a mass vacationer.
- the overview. After not even one day you orientate yourself like at home
- the design. Mediterranean, elegant, high-quality, but always very casual.
- Also applies to the service. Very obliging, helpful, charming.
- The over 18 pool. Small, great view, good location to always be able to call a waitress for drinks
- the place on the beach with a view directly to the small island with church. Dream!
- the variety and attention to detail at the buffets
- the really big and good wine selection
- the restaurant selection
- the colors. Green lawn, colorful flowers, the shades of blue in the pool and sea
- The transparent „all-in-one“ package of the Infinite Lifestyle
Ikoas Aria: Travel itenary
From Munich you can reach Kos in about 1.5 hours flight time, after that it is another 15 minutes drive (with great views) to the hotel. Depending on the season, prices start at around 250 Euro per night for two people in a double room. More info under ikosresorts.com/de/ikos-aria
